Day Of tears by Julious Lester takes place around the time of the civil war in Maryland. The whole story is written by several characters. There is no main one. The different characters write scriptures in the story that give you an open mind to all of the characters point of you of what's going on. This book shows you the many troubles faced by slaves in the south during the civil war.

Day of Tears by Julius Lester is a story about the life of slaves and slave owners before, during and after the civil war. One thing I really enjoyed about this book is you got to see all the different points of views of all the different characters. And you didn't just get to see the points view just in the present, you also got to see them when they were older. This book made me feel extremly sad at some points. But extremly happy at others. I would definitely recommend this book. I thought Lester had done an astounding job of capturing what the people in this book really felt. And thats hard, considering he wasn't alive at this time and he didn't know these people. This is definitely one of my favorite books.

The book I read,Day of tears by Julius Lester, takes place before during and after the civil war. The setting is in the deep south but also takes place in Canada and In the North. It is about slavery during the time periods and what grief that slave selling brought to other slaves. I enjoyed this book because it was from everyones point of view and many times one of the characters would talk when they were much older, to see how they have changed or have not changed this made it easy to tell whether the characters were static or dynamic.
